The Gospel of Mark, Chapter 5, tells us how Jesus healed a man controlled by demons, his name was Legion and nearby, there were about 2,000 pigs in a herd, which he asked The Lord to allow them to go into and after granting them permission, they ran into the lake and drowned. It’s been said that Truth is stranger than fiction, so here’s The Truth you need to know, from a biblical perspective on a breaking story:
2,813 pigs were fished out of the Huangpu River, which provides drinking water for Shanghai's 23 million people. Some of the pigs were infected with porcine circovirus (PCV) virus, according to an official statement by the Shanghai Agriculture Committee. The statement posted on China's Twitter-like social media service Weibo said that the disease would not infect humans.
Sure the Chinese (or any other) government owned and operated agencies are going to say, it won’t effect you, but what’s the real cause and who is this ‘really’ going to effect?
A water management officer said by telephone that results of hourly water tests were normal.
Canadian singer/songwriter, Bruce Cockburn, has a great song titled, ‘The Trouble With Normal Is It Always Gets Worse,’ but what exactly are they working on to make the situation better? "We are adding more chlorine as an action to protect water safety," (that should be healthy for all involved) said the official who would only identified herself as Zhu and I can only assume that Zhu really does not want to identify herself at all. Water pollution, usually created by fertilizer run-off, chemical spills and untreated sewage, is a big problem in China. Remember the lead paint found on many of the imports sent to America? The government will invest $850 billion over the next decade to improve the water supply system and I wonder how much of that money is from the United States loans? "Am I scared? I have been hearing this kind of news all the time, so I am immune," said Songjiang resident Ma Leiying, 42, who works as a clerk at a state-owned company. "I’m sure other cities have the same problems, but the difference is the incidents have not been reported yet." No, Songjiang, you're probably not immune and for most of the world this is not an every day event! "Have we been drinking dead-pig-polluted water? We are already panicked by the polluted air now we have to worry about poisoned water too," one user wrote. Not to mention, that The Bible tells us ‘worrying’ is a sin, that chokes The Fruit Of God’s Holy Spirit. Many pigs have died in the area in recent months. In Zhulin village alone, there were 10,078 dead pigs in January, 8,325 in February. The cause of death was down to the cramped conditions the animals were kept in. The surge in the dumping of dead pigs came after a police campaign to curb the illegal trade in sick pig parts (which must be on the rise in China).
In Los Angeles last month, after tenants complained of poor water pressure, a woman’s body was found on the roof, in the hotel’s water supply and as of late, no arrests have been made, so I suppose the moral of this story would be, no matter what country you’re in, don’t drink the water, unless it’s in a ‘plastic’ bottle. The Good News is, the man who was healed by Jesus, went into the Ten Cities, began telling how much Jesus had done for him and ALL the people were amazed. I am certain that the underground Church in China will have plenty of amazing stories to tell, from here & into Eternity! http://victorychurchofgod.weebly.com
