The Pope, The Vice-President, The Congresswoman & The Governor
by Pastor Mark Tross
Pope Francis was inaugurated today in Rome, Italy, with such dignitaries present, as United States Vice-President Joseph Biden, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez, all of whom are confessing Catholics or at least in name, since some advocate abortion and same sex marriage, which is completely opposite of Catholic doctrine.
During the homily, he told a crowd of up to 200,000 gathered in front of the Vatican: “I would like to ask all those who have positions of responsibility in economic, political and social life, and all men and women of goodwill: Let us be protectors of creation, protectors of God’s plan inscribed in nature, protectors of one another and of the environment.”
He added: “We must not be afraid of goodness or even tenderness.”
“Let us never forget that authentic power is service,” he said. “Only those who serve with love are able to protect.”
The pope defined his idea of protection as “respecting each of God’s creatures and respecting the environment in which we live.”
Vatican analyst George Weigel said the pope’s message was that “one should never confuse simplicity and humility with weakness.”
The pope is a “a man of steely determination,” Weigel added.
"We are originally from Argentina and we wanted to be here today because Pope Francis is from our home town. We were so proud when he was elected. We traveled overnight so we could be here today," Cirigliano Valetin, 51, an electrician who works in Salerno in southern Italy.
"He is a simple, humble person, he is not like the untouchable popes, he seems like someone normal people can reach out to," said Valetin, who is originally from Buenos Aires.
From Argentina, to Buenos Aires and now at the Vatican in Rome, Italy, Pope Francis leads the largest church on planet Earth, so what does that mean to us and for the world we live in? Only time will tell, but with even protestant churches confessing, “We believe in the holy catholic church,” it might be time for all of us to seek The Lord while He may be found. The former Pope Benedict encouraged all members of his church to read their bibles and he’s only the second pope to step down from, what some might say is the highest office in this world. The first time this happened was in the 1400's and in the 1500's The Reformation took place. Could it be at all possible that a true awakening and spiritual revival is in the making? NOTHING is impossible for God, as a matter of fact (and Truth), The Word tells us that ALL things are possible with God! Prayer and the public proclamation of God’s Holy & Precious Word are key to transformation, but the real deal occurs, when we are not only hearers of The Word, but doers of It.
